Yoga is a centuries-old integrated physical, mental and spiritual practice that we infuse with
progressive teaching methods and a deep respect for the student as a unique individual.   It
is our mission to provide skillful guidance throughout the adventure as students discover
greater strength, balance, flexibility, mental clarity and spiritual awareness through the
practice of yoga.

Because each student is unique - and because we often need different types of movement at
different times in our lives - Olney Yoga & Wellness encourages a broad perspective and
awareness of the many different types of yoga.   Our class offerings range from vigorous and
athletic to  gentle and therapeutic, and everywhere in between.  Students seeking yoga
with a greater emphasis on meditation and spiritual practice will find a home here as well
as students pursuing  hatha, or physically-focused yoga.  Private sessions and kids yoga are
also available.

More About Yoga:  A Personal View
Yoga transforms human bodies and human beings from the inside out. Using modern
terminology we might consider yoga a technology, but yoga is really a practice that
promotes to self-discovery and integration. Ultimately, the path of yoga leads us to find
ourselves - our power, passion, and peace - and from that place we can live much more
joyful, productive and fulfilled lives. If getting in touch with your higher self isn't appealing,
consider what has happened to ordinary people from practicing yoga: Freedom from the
clutches of chronic pain, successful rehab from injury, weight loss, the ability to calm the
mind and release deeply ingrained negative mental or physical habits.  And of course, I
frequently rejoice with students when they realize they can touch their toes for the 1st time
since third grade or when they find stillness in a difficult balancing posture.

I have seen athletes improve their performance, weary parents find a quiet place where
they can be nurtured, and workaholics evaporate their ego and start enjoying life!  I have
witnessed the transformation of my own life through yoga practice, and observed what a
positive effect this practice radiates to my family , friends, and community. It is amazing
what happens when we spent just a little time on our mat.  Yoga is for everybody and
every body, and it's really not that hard! If you are able to get really curious about your
body and about your life, you are already doing yoga.

I consider it an honor to take the seat of teacher and although no one knows what it is like
to be inside your body, as a yoga instructor, I am much like a trail guide to help you
discover your own inner & outer power, passion and peace. The adventure is yours!
